A 34 Year Old Man Awudu USMA Has Been Remanded Into Police Custody For Two Weeks For Unlawful Possession Narcotic Drugs.

On 24/02/2026, about 0830 hours, the Agona Swedru Police led by the District Commander, ASP/Ms. Vida Yankey and the District Crime Officer, ASP/Mrs. Erica Naab, together with eight men, conducted an operation at Agona Asafo and Agona Kwesitwikrom road in the Agona East District.

The team during the operation intercepted a taxi cab with registration number GR 2932-26. A search conducted on the vehicle led to the discovery of 4 nylon sacks containing dried leaves suspected to be narcotics drugs concealed in the taxi cab.

The sacks were opened, revealing a total number of 154 compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be narcotics drugs.

Suspects Godfred Acquah aged 28 and Awudu Usman aged 34 were subsequently arrested for investigation.

Suspect Awudu Usman claimed ownership of the exhibits and led police to his house at Asisim, a section of Agona Swedru.

At the resident, police conducted a search, and an additional 55 slabs were retrieved, totaling 209 compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be narcotics drugs retrieved.

Suspects offered to give police an amount of Ghc 100, 000 as a bribe in other to avoid prosecution but it was rejected. The suspect was arraigned before Agona Swedru Magistrate court today.

But His Worship Victor Kusi the presiding judge, remanded the suspect for two weeks to assist police investigation.
