Tema West Relief In Sight For Adjei-Kojo As Assembly Constructs Bridge Over Flood-Prone Drain.

Residents of Global Down and Japan City at Adjei-Kojo in the Tema West Constituency are set to experience long-awaited relief as the Tema West Municipal Assembly commences major works on a bridge to ease movement within the community.

For years, the large drain linking Global Down to Japan City has posed a serious challenge, particularly during the rainy season.

Whenever it overflowed, access to adjoining communities was cut off, disrupting daily life and local commerce.

The situation was especially distressing for schoolchildren, some of whom were forced to wade through floodwaters to cross to the other side in order to attend classes, a practice that exposed them to significant safety and health risks.

That narrative, however, is expected to change in the coming weeks. Construction of a permanent bridge is now underway, a development residents believe will permanently address the perennial flooding and accessibility challenges.

The Municipal Chief Executive for the Tema West Municipal Assembly, Ludwig Teye Totimeh, who inspected progress of work on the project, expressed optimism about its impact on the community.

He indicated that the project is nearing completion and should be ready within the next one to two months.

According to him, the bridge will not only improve mobility but also stimulate economic activities by ensuring uninterrupted access between communities, particularly during heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the Adjei-Kojo Electoral Area, Charity Dela Siame, expressed appreciation to the Assembly and government for responding to the long-standing concern.

She noted that the bridge would significantly reduce the hardship residents endure during the rainy season.

She, however, appealed to government to also consider addressing the poor road network within the area to complement the benefits of the bridge project.
