Paramount Chief Calls For Unity And Self-Reliance During Ghana Independence Day Cleanup Exercise.

The Paramount Chief of the Lower Axim Traditional Area, Awulae Attibrukusu III, has called on Ghanaians to embrace unity and self-reliance as the country marks its independence anniversary.

According to the chief, the celebration of Ghana Independence Day should not only be about festivities but also a moment for reflection on the nation’s progress and responsibilities.

Speaking during a cleanup exercise organized by the Nzema East Municipal Assembly to commemorate the 6th March celebration instead of the usual march past, he reminded citizens that Ghana gained independence in 1957 and that the freedom attained should inspire citizens to work towards national development.

Awulae Attibrukusu III therefore appealed to individuals with skills, ideas and technical know-how to contribute meaningfully to the development of the nation.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Chief Executive for Nzema East, Herbert Koa Dickson, explained that the assembly decided to mark the independence celebration with a municipality-wide cleanup exercise.

He noted that instead of the usual march past associated with the Independence Day celebration, the assembly chose a communal cleanup exercise to promote environmental sanitation and community participation.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Kofi Arkoe Nokoe, also stressed the importance of prioritizing environmental cleanliness as part of national development.

According to him, although Ghana has made significant progress as a nation, maintaining a clean environment remains critical to protecting public health and reducing the burden on the country’s healthcare system.
End.
