CSA Vows 25-Year Jail Term For Sharing Minors’ Intimate Images Online.

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has assured the public it will enforce the law, sentencing anyone who shares intimate images of minors online to up to 25 years in prison.

Acting Director-General of the Authority, Mr. Divine Selase Agbeti, called for widespread advocacy in senior high schools, where thousands of students risk falling victim to cybercrimes.

He highlighted ongoing initiatives to protect teens from offences like sexual extortion, online bullying, and sharing intimate images,all punishable by up to 25 years in prison.

Mr. Agbeti was speaking in Cape Coast during a cybersecurity quiz competition organised by the Cyber Security Authority and the C-Quansah Foundation, as part of Africa Safer Internet Day 2026 celebrations. Six (6) senior high schools from the Central Region three boys’ schools and three girls’ schools—competed to boost awareness on online safety.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Agbeti announced that over 25,000 students have already undergone online security training.

The Guest Speaker for the event, Cape Coast Metro Mayor Hon. George Justice Arthur, said several district assemblies and service providers are facing cybersecurity challenges that affect their work.

Commending the Government and Parliament for passing the Cybersecurity Act, he noted that the new cyber security law will strengthen the protection of critical information infrastructures in district assemblies.
