Tema Technical Institute Cries For Support Over Outdated Equipment And Lack Of Girls’ Dormitory.

Authorities of Tema Technical Institute have raised concerns over the lack of modern equipment for practical training, warning that the situation is negatively affecting effective teaching and learning in the school.

The Principal of the institute, Mr. Armah Nyamekye, said most of the equipment used in the school’s practical departments are outdated and worn out, while some departments also lack essential facilities needed for effective skills training.

According to him, the situation is limiting hands-on learning and skills development among students, an essential component of technical and vocational education aimed at preparing them for the job market.

He is therefore appealing to the government, old students, and other stakeholders to support the institute with modern equipment and infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning.

Mr. Nyamekye also highlighted the absence of a girls’ dormitory as another major challenge facing the school.

He explained that female students are compelled to rent accommodation outside the campus, a situation he described as unsafe and unsuitable for the proper supervision and welfare of the girl child.

Meanwhile, Tema Technical Institute will mark its 62nd Anniversary with a series of activities beginning on April 13, 2026, with an exhibition of students’ projects and innovations.

Mr. Nyamekye used the opportunity to call on old students both home and abroad to return and support their alma mater as it continues to train skilled manpower for national development.
