Police Commander Slams Rising Indiscipline Among Muslim Youth In Central Region.

The Deputy Central Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ibrahim Sulley, has strongly condemned what he described as rising indiscipline among Muslim youth in the region.

ACP Sulley said a significant number of criminal incidents recorded in the region are frequently linked to Muslim youngsters, a trend, he warned is tarnishing the image of the Muslim community and the broader peace of society.

“it is very unfortunate that in many cases, when you look at the profile of some of these offenders, they are muslims. This brings disgrace to the faith and calls for serious attention from parents and community leaders.”

Addressing the people at the end of Ramadan celebration in Cape Coast,
Police Commander, he stressed that families must invest more time in mentoring their children and instilling core values, so they grow up law abiding and productive rather than drifting into criminal activities.

The Deputy Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South, who attended the event, assured Ghanaians that the government is committed to expanding employment opportunities for young people.

“With the economy stabilizing, President John Mahama’s government is focusing on creating more jobs for our youth this year.

Meanwhile, Hon. Ricketts-Hagan also acknowledged the contributions of the Muslim community to national stability and called for stronger collaboration between security agencies, parents, and religious leaders to curb youth indiscipline activities in the Country.

The Central Regional Chief Imam,Sheikh Abdul Rashed Iddris Tijjani has expressed concern about the behaviour of some Muslims after the end of Ramadan, warning that the spiritual lessons of the fasting period should translate into lasting moral change.

He said he would be disappointed if, after all the teachings and disciplining during Ramadan, his children are seen engaging in bad conduct, because the essence of fasting is a self control, and social responsibility that continue beyond the holy month.

End.
