Egypt Donates Hepatitis C Vaccines To Ghana To Strengthen Health Cooperation.

The Deputy Minister for Health, Grace Ayensu, has received 9,500 doses of Hepatitis C vaccines on behalf of the sector minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, in a donation from the Government of Egypt. The consignment, valued at nearly $80,000, was presented by Ambassador Wael Fathy Ahmed, representing his country.

Speaking at the brief ceremony, Hon. Ayensu described the gesture as a testament to the strengthening ties between Ghana and Egypt.

She noted that the donation comes at a critical time when global aid is declining, highlighting the importance of African nations supporting one another.

“The Government of Ghana appreciates this timely intervention. Such partnerships reinforce intra-African solidarity and are essential to building resilient health systems,” she stated.

She further indicated that beyond the donation, Ghana is keen on deepening collaboration with Egypt in key areas of the health sector, with a focus on advancing health sovereignty and ensuring sustainable access to essential medicines.

The vaccines have since been officially handed over to the Ghana Health Service for nationwide distribution.

The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to efforts aimed at improving public health outcomes and strengthening healthcare delivery across the country.
