Assemblyman Cries Out For Help To Evacuate 100-Year-Old Refuse Dump Site Choking Samproso Community.

The Assemblyman of Samproso in the Offinso South Municipality of the Ashanti Region, Hon Sumaila Zakari, is pleading for urgent assistance to evacuate a century-old refuse dump site that’s now centrally located in the community.
The dump, which has grown to become a health hazard, is blamed for the spread of typhoid and other infections among residents.
Hon Zakari revealed that some residents are even using the site as an open toilet, further worsening the situation.
Although the municipal assembly has assessed the site, accessing it has become a challenge, requiring the demolition of nearby structures.
The assemblyman emphasized that the community can’t tackle this alone and is calling for external support to evacuate the refuse and restore a healthy environment.
The situation is dire, with residents living in fear of contracting diseases.
The community is in need of immediate attention and action from authorities to address this environmental and health crisis.
The refuse dump site has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other disease-carrying pests, posing a significant threat to public health.
Hon Zakari is urging the government, NGOs, and other stakeholders to come to the aid of the community and provide the necessary resources to evacuate the refuse and rehabilitate the area.
