Burkina Faso Lifts Ban On Tomato Exports, Traders Still Push For Local Production.

Tomato traders in Ashanti Region are calling on the government to build a dam to support local tomato production, despite Burkina Faso lifting its export ban.
Suame Tomato Queen Mother, Ama Amponsah, emphasized the need for measures to boost local production, citing the impact of the ban on Ghana’s tomato industry.
Traders are seeking security measures to ensure a stable supply of tomatoes and reduce reliance on imports.
They believe a local dam would help increase production and meet market demands. “We need our own dam to produce tomatoes locally,” Amponsah stressed.
The lifting of the ban is expected to ease supply pressures, but traders remain focused on developing Ghana’s agricultural sector.
