Government To Establish New College Of Education In Ezilibo — Jomoro Mp Welcomes Initiative.

The Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency, Dorcas Toffey, has welcomed plans by the government to establish a new College of Education at Ezinlibo in the Western Region.

The announcement was made by the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, during the inauguration of the governing council of John Bosco College of Education on March 31.

According to the Minister, the initiative forms part of government’s efforts to expand teacher training capacity and improve academic performance, especially in underserved areas like Jomoro.

The proposed college, to be located at Ezinlibo within the Jomoro enclave, is expected to enhance access to teacher education and address the shortage of trained teachers in the area.

Reacting to the development, Hon. Dorcas Toffey Affo described the initiative as a significant step toward improving education in her constituency.

She noted that the establishment of the college would not only boost educational standards but also create opportunities for the youth.

The Education Minister further disclosed that consultations are ongoing with stakeholders, including the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), to facilitate the project, with construction expected to commence in 2027, subject to resource availability.

In a related development, Mr. Iddrisu also revealed plans to revive inter-schools and colleges sports competitions to help identify and nurture talents across the country.
