NADMO Central Hints At Soldier-Led Demolitions In 23 Districts Ahead Of Rains.

The Central Regional Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has hinted at soldier-led demolitions across 23 districts to curb flood risks before the rainy season. NADMO plans to target all illegal structures on waterways as part of its rainy season preparedness.
NADMO Central Regional Director, Mr. Emmanuel Kwesi Dawood Mensah, made this statement during a capacity-building workshop for his 23 district directors and their deputies, organized by the NADMO Central Regional Office,he added that the training equips participants with skills to manage potential disasters as rains approach.
Regional Director warned that anyone disrupting district-level demolitions will face severe consequences and won’t be spared.
“We will not tolerate disruptions or resistance that could endanger lives and property.”
He also urged all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to immediately dredge, desilt, and clean drainage systems as critical steps to prevent flooding and other rain-induced calamities.
Mr. Kwesi Dawood Mensah giving the update following relentless heavy downpours two weeks ago, which battered schools and households across 20 districts in the Central Region.
He commended NADMO headquarters for swiftly releasing essential relief items to the affected schools and households.
He assured all victims that they would receive these items through various NADMO offices at the district level.
“No one will be left behind; distribution has already begun, and we are monitoring to ensure fairness,” Mr. Mensah emphasized.
