Cocoa Price Controversy, Minority To Put More Pressure On Government To Offer Farmers A Better Price.

he Minority in Parliament says it will not relent in its efforts to pressure the government to offer cocoa farmers a better price.

‎As part of its interaction with cocoa farmers in the Bono Region, the Minority in Parliament says it is not relenting in its efforts to pressure the government to offer farmers a better price.

Speaking to cocoa farmers in the Berekum East, Berekum West, and Jaman South constituencies, the Minority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Annoh Dompreh Frank, says the worst the government can do to farmers is to maintain the price the previous government pays, or worse, reduce it after promising to offer farmers between 6,000 and 7,000. He describes this as unacceptable.

He urges the government to purchase two aircraft instead of four and use the money saved from the other two to pay cocoa farmers.

‎The MP for Ejisu Constituency, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, says farmers fall for what he describes as sweet but false promises from the NDC and voted for them, only to be disappointed.

He urges them to campaign and vote massively for the NPP in 2028 to continue what he describes as good policies for the cocoa sector and the general economy.

‎Some farmers say they are yet to receive payment from the government even after the price cut. They express disappointment in the government.

‎End.
