Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Friday, May 22, Mr. Buckman said the work of the committee has helped to bring governance closer to the people and deserved continuous support from all stakeholders.
He argued that, Ghana’s democratic growth depends on a collective and concerted effort by citizens and leaders alike in building the state through responsible participation and accountability.
Mr. Buckman stressed that while democracy must be protected and encouraged, irresponsibility should not be tolerated, especially from individuals who rely on political backing to justify misconduct.
“We believe in democracy and we must support democracy, we must support good governance, we must support everybody participating in the betterment of our state,” he stated.
He further encouraged the committee to remain steadfast in its work to ensure that Ghana continues to enjoy inclusive governance and national development through the active involvement of citizens.
