Former Jaman North MP Rescinds NPP Regional Chairman Bid To Contest Parliamentary Primaries.
Former Jaman North Member of Parliament, Hon. Siaka Stevens, has noted that he has rescinded his decision to contest the NPP Bono Regional 1st Vice Chairman position, following calls from some party delegates and Nananom to contest the party’s parliamentary primaries in Jaman North.
According to him, the group held a press conference without his prior knowledge, urging him to return to Parliament to help safeguard the NPP’s fortunes in the Jaman North Constituency and secure victory in the 2028 elections.
Hon. Siaka Stevens said the delegates and Nananom compared his two-term performance in Parliament with that of the incumbent MP, who has also served two terms, and concluded that his achievements were more significant and that they believe his return to Parliament would help attract more development to the Jaman North District and so his decision to contest the 1st Vice Chairmanship position has consequently been rescinded, as he awaits the NPP parliamentary primaries scheduled for December.
Hon Siaka Stevens stated that he has numerous legacies to uphold upon receiving the mandate to serve the constituents of Jaman North, emphasizing that his first 2 terms of office ensured a regular distribution of rice to widows and elderly women which faced criticism from the NDC, who accused him of misusing government funds for purposes deemed non-beneficial.
He asserted that he has facilitated a variety of developmental projects, including the construction of numerous classroom blocks and the upgrading of AVOTECH to enhance educational opportunities, alongside various road construction initiatives.
He further remarked that the current Member of Parliament has explicitly failed in his duties and seeks to utilize the government’s ongoing 24-hour Economy Market project to mask his shortcomings which has resulted in the collapse of the existing Market to build a new market a decision he characterized as unfounded and baseless.
