Your Fine Will Be Sent To You Directly” – Deputy Ashanti MTTD Boss Warns Drivers As New Traffitech System Set To Check Overspeeding And Road Indiscipline.

The Ashanti Regional Deputy Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), Andrew Adom Okyere, has intensified public education on the newly introduced TraffiTech enforcement system.

In a meeting with the Ashanti Regional Garages Association executives in Kumasi, Adom Okyere gave detailed insight into how the TraffiTech system will work to sanitize Ghana’s roads.

He explained that TraffiTech is an advanced, technology-driven traffic monitoring system developed by the Ghana Police MTTD, which uses smart cameras and sensors mounted on major roads to automatically capture road traffic offences in real-time.

According to him, the system is designed to drastically reduce road accidents and overspeeding, which continue to claim innocent lives.

“Over 90% of road accidents recorded on our various roads are caused by human error – wrongful overtaking, overspeeding, jumping red lights and general indiscipline. The TraffiTech will help us deal with this,” he stressed.

Okyere warned that the era where drivers overspeed and go unpunished is over, as the cameras will capture every infraction and the offender’s fine will be sent directly to them.

He added that once the TraffiTech system is fully installed across the region, discipline will return to our roads and drivers will be forced to do the right thing.

On his part, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Garages Association, Luqman Mohammed, expressed profound gratitude to the MTTD for the timely education.

He admitted that many drivers and garage owners had little knowledge about the TraffiTech system and the engagement has been an eye-opener.

He therefore urged all his members, including drivers, mechanics and garage owners, to strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the TraffiTech system to ensure safety on the roads and to avoid falling foul of the law.

He pledged the association’s full support to collaborate with the police to reduce accidents in the Ashanti Region.
