18 Riders Arrested In Kenyasi For Unregistered Motorbikes

The Kenyasi District Police Command in the Ahafo Region has arrested and detained 18 riders for using unregistered motorbikes, tricycles, and pragyia on Tuesday, August 8.
The arrested individuals were arraigned before the Kenyasi District Magistrate Court on Wednesday, August 7, where each of them was fined GH¢1,140 and ordered to register their vehicles.
According to Superintendent Harold Opoku Yamoah, the Kenyasi District Police Commander, about 90% of motorbikes in the district remain unregistered.
He expressed concern over the reckless riding in the area, emphasizing that the lack of registration makes it difficult for the police to trace or identify offenders.
He said the fines imposed would serve as a deterrent to other riders, encouraging them to regularize their operations by registering their motorbikes.
Superintendent Yamoah further stressed that the police will continue the operation until all unregistered motorbikes in the district are properly registered.
He added that once the motorbikes are registered, riders are likely to behave more responsibly and reduce excessive speeding, knowing they can easily be identified.
He urged all riders in the district to register their vehicles before the law catches up with them.
