El-Wak Stampede Two Deceased Identified As Kasoa Residents

Two of the six female victims who lost their lives in the El-Wak stampede during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise have been identified as residents of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

The stampede occurred on November 12, 2025, at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, resulting in the deaths of six females, with five others in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 12 in critical condition at the 37 Military Hospital. President John Dramani Mahama has suspended the recruitment exercise in Accra, pending a comprehensive review of the process.

The Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed the death toll remains at six, dismissing reports of 12 fatalities, and has extended condolences to the bereaved families.

One of the deceased, Priscilla Nyamalor, a 22-year-old lady, worked at CBG Kasoa Branch.

The families of the victims are in mourning, with parents recounting the tragic incident to the media. The family and sympathizers were visibly distraught, with many in tears, as they shared their grief.

In an interview with Angel NEWS , the mother of the deceased Mrs. Abigail Nyamalor recounting how she received the news noted that the deceased had always wanted to be in the military.

She told her about the enlistment and only to be told that their daughter lost her life through the stampede.
