Assin North Nyamebekyere D/A Basic School Appeals For Well-Equipped ICT Lab

Pupils of the Assin Breku-Nyamebekyere D/A Basic School in the Assin North District of the Central Region have made a passionate appeal for support to establish a well-equipped computer laboratory to enhance the study of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
According to the pupils, the lack of computers and essential ICT tools has hindered their ability to acquire practical skills, despite ICT being a core subject in the basic school curriculum.
They revealed that although ICT is taught in class, many of them have never seen or interacted with a real computer, making it difficult to grasp the subject and perform well in examinations.
The appeal was made during a community harvest organized by the school to raise funds for the ICT lab. Pupils from surrounding communities such as Takyiman, Kwame Kwaa, Awiafitaam, Atwereboanna, Sakoora, Owonta, Anufo, and Teacher Amoah, who all attend the school, are expected to benefit should the facility be established.
The pupils are calling on government institutions, NGOs, and benevolent individuals to support the initiative with computers, accessories, and the necessary .
Meanwhile, the Headteacher of the school, Mr. Emmanuel Kwamena Odoom, confirmed that ICT lessons are currently taught using a single laptop owned by the ICT teacher, an arrangement that, he said, severely limits effective teaching and learning.
He also highlighted the school’s critical shortage of staff. Although the school is supposed to have 15 teachers, it currently has only 10, with three more expected to be transferred.
This, he noted, has forced management to combine some classes, negatively affecting academic performance.
Mr. Odoom further lamented the absence of teachers’ bungalows.
He disclosed that he has been compelled to convert a small store room into his bedroom due to lack of accommodation and called on stakeholders to come to their aid.
