MCE, Assemblyman, And Nananom Accused Of Turning Road Land Into Stores At Kronum Aboahia

Residents of Kronum Aboahia in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti Region are expressing outrage over allegations that land reserved for a dual carriage road has been turned into store spaces.

The affected area is located in front of Comforter International School, and according to residents, the land was meant for the expansion of the road to alleviate congestion in the area.

The residents, who spoke to the media, accused the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon Frank Owusu Ansah, Assemblyman Elvis Nyantakyi (also known as “Yes Madam”), and local chiefs (Nananom) of being behind the alleged conversion of the land.

They claim that they were previously told the land would be used for a police station, but it now appears to be earmarked for commercial use, with stores being in the pipeline for construction on the site.

Mr. Alex Gyimah Manu, owner of Comforter International School, which is located infront to the disputed land, condemned the alleged actions, stating that the land was specifically reserved for road expansion and not for any other purpose.

He expressed concern that the construction of stores on the land would not only block the entrance to the school but also disrupt academic activities.

“This is not what we want; the land is for the road, not for stores,” Mr. Manu said, appealing to the authorities to intervene.

He called on His Royal Majesty and the Ministry of Roads and Highways to come to their aid, suggesting that some individuals were trying to pursue their own selfish interests at the expense of the community.
