Government Is Constructing Poultry Processing Factory To Support “Nkoko Nketenkete” Policy. – Agric Ministry.

Mr. Apraku Lartey, the Head of Communications at the Ministry of Agriculture, has announced that the government has undertaken a prudent initiative to construct a poultry processing factory in Bechem to support the NDC Nkoko Nketenkete Policy by ensuring that the poultries provided to farmers are purchased directly from them, processed into consumables, and sold to the public.

During the official launch of the Nkoko Nketenkete Policy and distribution of chicks to farmers in the Berekum East Municipal, Mr. Apraku Lartey emphasized that if the processing factory is improved, the government will implement measures to restrict the importation of frozen chickens from overseas.

This is intended to bolster poultry production within the country and ensure that farmers benefit from their labor.

He also took the opportunity to advise beneficiaries of the program to refrain from selling the chicks to others.

He stressed that those who benefit from the program should be committed to fully rearing the chicks and adhering to all poultry farming procedures to enhance the success of the Nkoko Nketenkete program.

Hon. Gordon Asubonteng, the Deputy Coordinator responsible for Institutional Farming at the Ministry of Agriculture, revealed that the government has allocated 10,000 birds to each of the 275 Assemblies nationwide.

These birds are to be distributed to individuals interested in poultry farming.

He said the initiative is designed to cultivate interest and enthusiasm for poultry rearing on a large scale, thereby enhancing poultry production within the country.

Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government for honoring his Nkoko Nketenkete Campaign promise.

They said the initiative will go a long way to boost the poultry production in Ghana.
