Gomoa East Distributes Metal Desks To Schools Across The District.

The Gomoa East District Assembly has distributed mono and dual metal desks to selected schools across the district as part of efforts to improve teaching and learning conditions.

The distribution, which took place today, Monday, August 10, 2026, covered schools in all area councils within the Gomoa East District. Among the beneficiary institutions are Potsin T.I. Ahmadiyya, Nyanyanoman SHS/Technical, Fettehman SHS, Pamfokrom TVET, St. Gregory and other basic schools in the district.

Each of the beneficiary senior high schools received 50 mono desks, while the basic schools received dual desks to help address the shortage of furniture and provide students with a more conducive environment for learning.

Speaking to the media, the DCE for Gomoa East, Hon. Margaret Naana Ackom, urged headmasters, teachers and school authorities to take good care of the desks and ensure that students also handle them responsibly.

She explained that although the desks, which were acquired through the District Assemblies Common Fund, are not enough to meet the needs of all schools in the district, the Assembly remains committed to improving the situation.

According to her, proper maintenance of the furniture by school authorities and students could encourage the provision of more desks in the future.

“Although these desks are not enough, I hope the teachers and students will take good care of them so that it will motivate us to bring more,” she said.

The Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, Hon. Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, also expressed appreciation to the President of Ghana, the Vice President and the members of the Gomoa East District Assembly for their efforts in providing the furniture to schools in the district.

He stressed the importance of protecting the desks to ensure that they serve their intended purpose for a longer period.

The MP therefore appealed to headteachers, teachers and other school staff to supervise the proper use of the desks and educate students on the need to protect school property.

The initiative is expected to ease the pressure caused by inadequate furniture in some schools while providing students with better conditions for effective teaching and learning.
