Kumi, Amakyebare And Aninkroma Appeal To Government Over Poor Roads, School And Sanitation Challenges.

Residents and traditional leaders of Kumi, Amakyebare and Aninkroma in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region have made a passionate appeal to government to urgently address pressing challenges confronting their communities.
According to the residents, the deplorable state of their roads is severely affecting farmers and workers who commute daily to Kumasi for their economic activities.
The poor road network has made transportation of farm produce difficult and expensive.
They also lamented that a footbridge leading to their farmlands has become a death trap.
The bridge, which has partially collapsed, has caused several injuries, with many residents reportedly suffering broken legs after falling into it.
In the area of education, the residents of Kumi bemoaned the poor condition of their school building, which they described as unsuitable for effective teaching and learning.
Speaking on behalf of the residents and traditional leaders, the Committee Chairman, Mr. Asoma Banda, disclosed that the three communities do not have a single public toilet facility, a situation he described as very worrying and unhygienic.
Mr. Banda further revealed that their refuse dump site has not been evacuated for a long time and is posing serious health hazards to residents.
He also appealed for a Junior High School (JHS) block at Amakyebare, explaining that the existing JHS is severely overcrowded, with about 90 pupils crammed into a single classroom, making teaching and learning extremely difficult.
The residents are therefore calling on the Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly and the central government to come to their aid and provide them with basic social amenities to improve their living conditions.
