C/R Give Us Our Fishing Harbour Says Npp Constituency Organizer To Government
The Ekumfi NPP Constituency Organizer, Mustapha Ahmed Anderson, has expressed the desire of the people of Ekumfi Narkwa for the construction of a fishing harbour, which they consider essential for their community’s development.
Ekumfi Narkwa, a town located in the Central Region within the Ekumfi District, is the largest community in the district, with farming and fishing as the primary occupations of its residents.
As part of this year’s festival celebrations, the people of Ekumfi Narkwa performed the traditional “Bakatue” ceremony to mark the beginning of their festivities.
In a media interview, the Constituency Organizer, speaking on behalf of the people of Ekumfi Narkwa, pleaded with the government to address their longstanding need for a fishing harbour. He also highlighted the need for sea defense mechanisms and the completion of a cold storage facility for the town.
Additionally, he extended his congratulations to the Ekumfi NPP parliamentary candidate, Stelfa Nana Edu Donkoh Okumkom, for supporting the people of Ekumfi Narkwa in organizing the Bakatue.
Following this, the leader of the Bakatue group explained that certain customs surrounding the seashore must be respected, as it is believed that contact with certain forbidden items can disrupt the flow of the waters.
He elaborated on the challenges they face when sand blocks the pathway between the shore and the sea.
Finally, the youth of Ekumfi Narkwa made an appeal for a Senior High School, pointing out that their town is larger than some neighboring Ekumfi communities that already have one.
They also requested an AstroTurf field to promote sports development among the youth.
