Rural Electrification: KNUST Professor Electrifies YeboaKrom With Solar Energy
As part of measures to ensure that YeboahKrom in Juanen Municipal of the Ashanti Region gets access to electricity power, Professor Rexford Asaase Oppong with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has electrified the community with solar energy.
The community has needed electrification since time immemorial so he thought it wise to assist the community with free solar energy as part of his project work supported by German University.
Professor Asaase Oppong remarked that the solar panel is about two kilometers that provides electric energy to 200 houses in the community with a population of 600 residents.
Added that the community has been using solar energy for the past two years.
Professor Asaase mentioned that the community is growing hence, it should be connected to the national grid to get full access to electrical power.
Regent of the community, Nana Omane Boamah mentioned how the solar energy provided by the KNUST professor has improved their life and indicated the community mobilization of funds to sustain the solar system.
He further stated the effort the community has played to be connected to the national grid but to no avail, thus, pleading with the government to solve the challenge.
