Heavy Rainstorm Destroys Thousand Of Properties At Tepa Mabang

A devastating rainstorm struck Tepa Mabang in the Ahafo Ano North Municipal of the Ashanti Region on Sunday evening, leaving behind a trail of destruction and despair.

The storm, which displaced over 60 residents, ripped roofs off buildings, caused the collapse of over 10 structures, including a school.

The victims recounted the terrifying moments when the storm unleashed its fury, leaving families scrambling for safety as their homes crumbled around them and pleaded to the authorities to come to their aid.

Hon. Vivor George Emmanuel, the assembly member for the Mabang electoral area, described the situation as heartbreaking.

He assured the affected residents of his commitment to helping them recover.

“We are working tirelessly to provide immediate relief to those impacted and to seek long-term solutions for rebuilding the community,” he said.

He appealed to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Volta River Authority (VRA) to urgently restore power to their area following the collapse of electric poles and wires.

According to him, the fallen poles have not only left them in darkness for days but also pose a serious danger to lives and property.

Adu Justice, the NADMO Zonal Coordinator for Abonsuaso, also visited the affected area to assess the extent of the damage.

“We have documented all the details of the affected persons and properties and forwarded the report to my superiors in Tepa for further action,” he stated.
