Bono East Pru East MP Consoles Families Of Yeji-Kumasi Highway Accident Casualties

Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, the Member of Parliament for Pru East constituency in the Bono East Region, has sympathised with the families of victims involved in an accident on the Yeji-Kumasi Highway on April 28th, 2025.
The Yeji-Kumasi highway has been a death trap for years due to its deplorable nature, with persistent road accidents and robbery attacks claiming lives.
Despite being constructed during the Rawlings administration, the road remains a major concern due to lack of maintenance, especially with heavy trucks and cars plying the route from Bono East Region to the northern part of Ghana.
Two bridges on the road have collapsed and are under slow construction, posing numerous dangers.
A recent accident on April 28, 2025, involving a mini-bus with registration number AS 4360-23, claimed eight lives, and several others were hospitalized with severe injuries.
The situation worsened when armed robbers attacked and killed a motorcyclist, bringing the death toll to nine.
The DCE of Pru East District, Hon. Abdul Naasir Dauda was deeply concerned by the news and visited the Yeji Mathias Catholic Hospital Morgue to witness the situation.
In a recent interview with Kaakyire Kwasi Afari on Ark FM’s midday news, the Member of Parliament for Pru East, Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam assured constituents that the treacherous Yeji-Kumasi road will finally receive the attention it deserves.
The MP’s assurance comes on the heels of a devastating accident on the road, which has been plagued by accidents and robbery due to its deplorable condition.
Lord Boam, as popularly known, revealed that the road has been included in the NDC’s “Big Push” program, aimed at improving infrastructure, including the road network in Pru East district in the Bono East Region.
He also shared his recent engagement with the Road Minister, who has assured him that the road will be fixed.
The MP emphasized the NDC government’s commitment to delivering on its social contract with the people of Pru East and Ghana as a whole.
The Pru East Member of Parliament expressed sincere sympathies and condolences to the families of the eight victims involved in the accident on the Yeji-Kumasi Highway.
In a statement issued by Hon. EmmanuelKwakuBoam, he described accident situations as alarming and unacceptable, calling for urgent attention.
“The tragedy serves as a grim reminder of the appalling condition of the Kumasi-Yeji highway, which has unfortunately become a death trap for many road users.
The frequency of accidents on this road is alarming and unacceptable,” he said.
