Floods Disrupt Education In Old Weija Residents Lament And Call For Urgent Action

Residents of Old Weija in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality have expressed deep frustration over the devastating impact of recurring floods in the area, especially following a heavy downpour on Sunday that displaced more than 500 people.

The flooding, which residents say has become a perennial problem, is largely blamed on poor drainage systems in the community.

Affected families, many of whom are still counting their losses, say the situation is not only destroying property but also severely disrupting education for school children in the area.

According to residents, the lack of proper drainage channels in the Old Weija Electoral Area is a major contributor to the flooding problem, they have called on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Odartey Lamptey, to act swiftly and prioritize the construction and repair of drains in the affected zones.
