A heart-wrenching discovery was made near River Pra in the Assin North District of the Central Region, where a one-and-a-half-year-old toddler was found abandoned.
The child, suspected to be a special needs child, was discovered in a thick bush at the riverbank by an eyewitness, a fisherman, Edward Ahorso.
The eyewitness, who was on a fishing expedition around 4 pm, stumbled upon the child and immediately rushed home to inform the police at Assin Praso.
Led by Chief Inspector Jacob Osei Kojo, the police team sprang into action, proceeding to the crime scene, Praso Slave Site, with Ahorso.
Upon inspecting the scene, the police found the child dressed in multicolored trousers and a white T-shirt. They also noticed signs of a struggle and ritualistic activities, including boiled mashed yam and four boiled eggs in a bowl.
The child was rushed to the Assin Praso Presbyterian Hospital for treatment and was admitted to the intensive care unit.
