Biemso No. 2 CHIP Compound In Dire Need Of Relocation And Upgrade

The Biemso No. 2 Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound, serving over 10 communities in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region, is facing severe infrastructure and accessibility challenges.

According to the senior midwife, Madam Rita Boateng who spoke to Sompa FM Bawah Baidoo, the facility’s current location is no longer suitable due to the construction of stores in front of the compound, which blocks emergency access.

“If there’s an emergency, an ambulance can’t even reach the facility,” she lamented.

Furthermore, the facility’s building has been damaged by bats and developed cracks on the walls, prompting nurses to call for a new building.

Some of the medical equipment at the facility is also outdated and no longer functional, necessitating urgent replacement.

The healthcare providers are appealing to the government to construct a new CHPS compound, equipped with modern facilities and equipment, to provide quality healthcare services to the growing population.

The current state of the facility not only compromises healthcare delivery but also puts patients’ lives at risk. The community is eagerly awaiting government intervention to address this pressing concern.

Meanwhile, a committee member, Mr. Akwesi Agyei, disclosed to Bawah Baidoo that, the bats are really disturbing them because when they spray, the bats still come.

They have tried different means of getting them out, but all efforts have been unsuccessful.

“We have tried to get rid of the bats, but they keep coming back. We need a new facility that is free from these challenges,” Mr. Agyei stated.

The community is calling on the government to urgently address the infrastructure and equipment challenges facing the Biemso No. 2 CHIP compound to ensure that quality healthcare services are delivered to the people.
