Mental Health Takes Center Stage At Young And Safe Bootcamps

The Young and Safe Bootcamps recently held a session today, Friday, at Tanyigbe SHS, focusing on mental health awareness and the importance of seeking help.

Mr. Joseph Gyeedu from the Ho Municipal Hospital emphasized that mental health is just as important as physical health and should not be stigmatized.

Mr. Gyeedu highlighted the heavy burden of stigma that often forces people to suffer in silence, fearing judgment for their struggles.
He encouraged open conversations about mental health, citing the importance of kindness and support.

By normalizing open dialogues and encouraging individuals to ask for help, we can make a real difference in supporting those struggling with mental health issues.
The session covered common mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, and eating disorders.

Mr. Gyeedu pointed out warning signs that indicate it’s time to check in on our mental health, such as losing interest in activities you once enjoyed, withdrawing from others, experiencing mood swings, and feeling overwhelmed.

Mr. Gyeedu emphasized that seeking help is not a sign of weakness, but an act of wisdom and courage.
By promoting mental health awareness and support, the Young and Safe project seeks to empower youth with vital knowledge and skills to manage stress and anxiety.

Let’s work together to break the stigma around mental health and create a supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable seeking help.

By choosing kindness over criticism and encouraging open dialogues, we can make a real difference in supporting those struggling with mental health issues.
