KMA Demolishes Structures At Afrafwo, Abrepo Junction To Combat Crime.
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has carried out a demolition exercise at Afrafwo, near Abrepo Junction in the Ashanti Region, as part of efforts to improve public safety and reclaim the area from illegal activities.
According to the Assembly, the structures demolished had allegedly become hideouts for criminal activities.
Security personnel were deployed to the area to maintain law and order throughout the operation.
The exercise was led by the KMA Operations Officer, who said the Assembly remains committed to ensuring a safe and orderly environment for residents and businesses.
Speaking to Angel News reporter Kesse Solomon, some affected residents expressed disappointment over the demolition.
They acknowledged that they had been informed an exercise would take place but said they were not given adequate notice to relocate their businesses.
Yaw Opoku , who operated a lotto kiosk, said he tried to find an alternative location before the demolition but was unable to secure one.
He added that instead of receiving a formal notice, officials only marked their buildings and stores with inscriptions instructing them to remove the structures.
Other affected traders said they have nowhere to relocate their drinking spots and shipping containers.
They appealed to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to provide them with a designated area to continue their businesses.
The residents said relocating them would enable them to earn a living and continue providing for their families.
