Tema Com.4 TDC Accused Of Halting Major Road And Drainage Project In Tema Community Four.

Assembly Member for the Horticultural Electoral Area in Tema Community Four, Baba Tunde, has criticized the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) over the suspension of an ongoing inner road and drainage construction project in the area.

The project, which residents say is expected to improve accessibility and address persistent flooding challenges, has reportedly been brought to a standstill following the intervention of TDC officials.

The project, being undertaken by Sky Mount 25 Limited, involves the construction of inner roads, a bypass, and drainage systems stretching from the Community 4, 8, and 9 Junction to the Hospital Road.

Speaking in an interview with Angel Tv Reporter, Ahiabor Augustine, Baba Tunde disclosed that the Assembly had earlier provided a temporary structure to accommodate the contractor’s logistics and equipment to ensure smooth execution of the project.

However, according to him, officials of the Tema Development Corporation allegedly stormed the project site, demolished the temporary structure, and confiscated some of the equipment being used for the construction works.

Baba Tunde described the development as unfortunate and disappointing, stressing that the project was intended to bring relief to residents who have endured poor road networks and flooding for years.

He further appealed to the authorities to resolve the misunderstanding and allow the contractor to continue work in the interest of the community.

Residents in the affected areas have also expressed concern over the halt in construction, fearing the suspension could delay much-needed development and worsen conditions during the rainy season.

Meanwhile, calls are mounting for dialogue between the Tema Development Corporation, the Assembly, and all stakeholders to ensure the project resumes without further delay.
