Over 23 Houses Destroyed And 100 Residents Displaced By Floods At Owhim Tigo Junction.

More than 23 houses have been submerged and over 100 residents displaced after a heavy downpour yesterday evening at Owhim Tigo Junction in the Ashanti Region.
The rain, which began around 6:30pm and lasted for several hours, triggered flash floods that swept through low-lying areas, destroying property and leaving families stranded overnight.
According to affected victims, the water rose rapidly after drains became overwhelmed, forcing them to flee their homes with little more than the clothes on their backs.
Household items including furniture, electronics, foodstuffs, bedding, and personal documents were washed away and rendered unusable.
Several mud and block structures built along blocked waterways collapsed under the force of the floodwaters, while others were left with cracked walls and weakened foundations.
The displaced residents spent the night with relatives and neighbors in nearby communities after their homes became uninhabitable.
Some families said they had lost years of savings invested in their homes and businesses and had nowhere to turn for immediate help.
Nana Gyasi Acheampong, the Bantama NADMO Director, described the situation as devastating and said it required urgent attention.
Speaking after assessing the damage, he noted that the extent of destruction showed the need for immediate relief support for the victims.
Officials who inspected the area said a full report would be submitted to the regional NADMO office to facilitate assistance.
He urged urged residents to avoid building on waterways and pledged to work with traditional authorities to address the underlying causes of the flooding.
