Sebrepor Residents Rise Against Alleged Sale Of Community Park, Demand Urgent Intervention.

Residents of Sebrepor in the Kpone Katamanso Constituency have mounted strong opposition to an unlawful sale and planned development of the community’s only recreational park.

The residents say the park, popularly known as Sebrepor Free Town Park, was set aside by the community several years ago for recreational and social activities.

However, they claim a private developer has moved onto the land and is preparing to commence construction after presenting documents indicating that the property was sold to him by TDC Ghana Ltd in 2014.

According to community members, this is not the first time ownership of the land has been challenged.

They recalled that years ago, an individual laid claim to the park, but the community won the case in court.

The latest development has reignited tensions in the area, with residents insisting that the park serves as an important social hub for the community.

They noted that the space is used for football matches, church crusades, funeral ceremonies, physical exercise activities and other community gatherings involving both the youth and the elderly.

Residents further alleged that despite several attempts to engage TDC Ghana Ltd to addressed the issue has proved futile.

They say the developer has already transported sand and blocks onto the site in preparation for construction works.

Determined to protect what they consider a vital community asset, the residents have vowed to resist any attempt to develop the land and are calling on government authorities and relevant institutions to intervene before the situation escalates.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the Sebrepor Electoral Area, Morris Kukoalor, has joined calls for urgent intervention.

He stressed that the park remains the only recreational space available to residents and should be preserved for the benefit of current and future generations.
