President Mahama Urges Ghanaians To Embrace Free Primary Healthcare Initiative.

President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians to embrace and take full advantage of the government’s Free Primary Healthcare initiative, describing it as a major intervention to improve access to quality healthcare and promote the early detection and treatment of diseases.

The President made the call during a visit to Ohiaba in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District to inspect the Free Primary Healthcare Hospital project as part of his two-day tour of the Central Region dubbed Resetting Ghana Tour.

President Mahama said trained health workers would soon embark on nationwide community outreach programmes to provide free health screening, health education, and essential medications.

He encouraged the public to make regular medical check-ups a habit, stressing that early detection of diseases saves lives and reduces the burden on families and the healthcare system.

The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, described the Free Primary Healthcare policy as a major intervention to improve healthcare delivery across the country.

He said the initiative is anchored on three key pillars: Free Primary Healthcare Services, Free NHIS enrolment and renewal, and the Mahama Care programme.

He urged Ghanaians to enrol on or renew their NHIS membership and make annual medical check-ups a priority.

End.
