The Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, KMA, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, (King Zuba), says persons who flout the Assembly’s sanitation by-laws will be prosecuted.

The warning comes as the city intensifies efforts to tackle filth and flooding in Kumasi.

Addressing the media in Kumasi, the KMA Mayor said the Assembly will no longer tolerate indiscriminate dumping of refuse, selling on pavements, and choked drains.

He noted that sanitation inspectors and the task force have been deployed across markets including Kejetia, Adum, and Asafo as well as communities to enforce the by-laws.
.
The Mayor said these, when he received several cartons of Adonko Next Level Energy drinks from Adonko Beverages Company Ltd on behalf of the Assembly’s newly formed Sanitation inspectors “Nsamansaman” with aim of boosting their energy for the operation.

_”Anyone who will go contrary to KMA’s sanitation by-laws will face the law. We are giving no room for excuses. Keep your frontage clean, stop dumping in drains, and let’s make Kumasi clean again.”_

The Mayor added that defaulters will be arrested and arraigned before the sanitation court. He urged residents, traders, and landlords to support the campaign to make Kumasi the cleanest city in Africa.

KMA says the enforcement exercise will continue daily with support from NADMO, the Police.

On behalf of the company, Mr. Vincent Opare, revealed the reason for such support and encouraged the taskforce and the Mayor to put behind them discouraging words from critics and keep up the fight.
