UFO Ghana Delegaton Meets Persidential Economic Adivsor, Calls For Action On Transport, Mental Health And Youth Development.

A five-member delegation from the Universal Friendship Organisation, UFO Ghana, led by its President, Mr. Samuel Adobah, has called on the Presidency to take urgent steps to address pressing national issues including transport challenges, mental health concerns, and youth development.

The delegation was received by Hon. Seth Terkper, Economic Advisor to the President.

Speaking during the engagement, Mr. Adobah expressed appreciation to the Presidency for the opportunity to dialogue.

He introduced UFO as an international civil society organisation established in 2019 and duly registered, with a mandate to promote peace, unity and stability across the continent through education, health, agriculture, peace and stability, and intercultural relations.

According to him, UFO is made up of professionals including media practitioners, international relations experts, lecturers, health experts and other key personalities committed to national progress.

Mr. Mark Acheampong, an Executive Member of UFO, who delivered the substantive briefing, said the purpose of the visit was to formally bring to the attention of government critical issues affecting citizens, particularly the youth.

He highlighted the transportation difficulties faced by young people and the plight of persons with severe mental health conditions living on the streets.

He noted that UFO had already engaged the Ministry of Health, the Mental Health Authority, the National Security Secretariat and the Ministry of Transport on these matters, but was yet to see concrete action.

He added that while the Ministry of Transport had taken some steps, the results were yet to be felt.

Mr. Acheampong further stressed the need for interventions to tackle youth unemployment and other pressing challenges confronting young Ghanaians.

He said addressing these issues would bring relief to citizens and earn government commendation.

As part of the engagement, Mr. Paapa Francis Koomson, another Executive Member of UFO, presented a citation to Hon. Seth Terkper in appreciation of his participation in the UFO Future of Work Conference 2nd Edition.

The citation recognised his contribution to youth development and national dialogue.

Responding, Hon. Seth Terkper commended the UFO team for their commitment to national affairs.

“I am happy about the UFO team and how national issues are your concern,” he said.

He assured the delegation that government will take action on the matters raised during the meeting.

He stated that government remains committed to supporting youth development and is open to partnering with any institution that is advancing national development.

“UFO has shown concern for national issues, and that is the kind of partnership government welcomes,” Hon. Terkper added.

The meeting forms part of UFO Ghana’s ongoing stakeholder engagement on national development priorities.
