Three Suspected Thieves Escape Lynching By Angry Youth At Assin Juaso.

Three suspected thieves have escaped a lynching by angry youth at Assin Juaso in the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region, following their alleged involvement in a burglary and theft incident in the community.

The suspects, twin brothers and a friend, are said to have fled the area after some residents subjected them to severe beatings upon discovering items suspected to have been stolen from a provision store.

The incident occurred after the suspects broke into the provision store of a trader at Juaso and made away with a deep freezer, cartons of soft drinks, crates of eggs and an unspecified amount of money.

During a search conducted by some residents, the stolen items were retrieved from the room of the two suspects, together with a number of electricity meters, locally manufactured pistol and other items suspected to have been stolen.

The suspects are known in the community and have been accused of associated with criminal activities in the area.

Angered by the discovery, some youth reportedly attacked the two men and subjected them to severe beatings.

However, the suspects managed to escape before the matter was formally reported to the police.

The Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command, led by ACP Dr. Asare Nyarkoh, has since launched a manhunt for the suspects.

The District Police Commander, ASP Jacob Kumedzro, confirmed the incident and disclosed that a firearm recovered during the operation by the committee members of the community had been handed over to the police.

He said the suspects had absconded, prompting the Command to launch a manhunt to apprehend them and assist with ongoing investigations.

The police have appealed to residents with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to report to the nearest police station or assist the Command with credible information to facilitate their arrest.
