Evans Teye Estate Debunks Land Guard Allegations, Gives Occupants October Deadline.
Evans Teye Estate Development Limited at Ogbodo has denied allegations that it is using land guards to harass and intimidate people occupying portions of its estate lands.
The company says the allegations are false, misleading and intended to create a distorted impression about its activities.
The Managing Director of Evans Teye Estate Development Limited speaking at a press conference says although the company secured a court mandate, including a Supreme Court judgment, to recover possession of its lands, it has deliberately refrained from demolishing structures or forcibly ejecting occupants.
He explained that following the Supreme Court judgment, the company, in the interest of peace and on humanitarian grounds, offered persons who had developed portions of the estate lands without lawful authorisation an opportunity to regularise their interests.
He says occupants who have not regularised their stay have until the end of October to do so, after which the company will take steps to recover possession of the lands.
Meanwhile, some residents who have gone through the regularisation process have welcomed the initiative and shared their experiences.
