Ashaiman Court Jails Two Friends 10 Years Each For Robbery Conspiracy

The Ashaiman Circuit Court has sentenced two friends to 10 years’ imprisonment each for conspiring to commit robbery.
The convicts, Agbevi Ofoe, 33, a commercial motor rider from Mataheko near Afienya, and William Aladin, 26, an electrical engineer from Atadeka in Ashaiman, were found guilty of robbing a young woman of her mobile phone.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on March 8, 2025, at about 4:40 a.m.
The complainant, 22-year-old Bless Ahiagba of Achimota, reported to the police that she was returning from Ashaiman New York when she encountered the two men riding a motorbike with registration number M-21-GR 4123 near the Ashaiman Night Market.
The accused spotted her using her iPhone 7 Plus, valued at GH₵1,500.
They parked the motorbike a short distance away, after which one of them rushed towards her and snatched the phone from behind.
He quickly returned to the motorbike, and together they sped off.
The complainant raised an alarm, drawing the attention of bystanders, who gave the suspects a hot chase.
They were apprehended along the road, and the stolen phone was retrieved. The two were subsequently handed over to the police.
Investigations revealed that Ofoe and Aladin, who were friends, had conspired that morning to embark on a phone-snatching operation in Ashaiman using the motorbike.
On September 4, 2025, the court, presided over by Her Honour Priscilla Sophia Yeboah, convicted the pair on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and sentenced them to 10 years each in prison.
