Predominance Of Drug Abuse ,Trafficking In some Zongo And Muslim Communities Must Be Addressed Urgently – Tabital Pulaaku International Ghana Urges.

The General Secretary of Tabita Pulaaku International, Ghana Chapter, Alhaji Yakubu Musah Barry, has expressed concerns regarding the escalating issue of drug abuse and trafficking in certain Zongo and Muslim communities, urging immediate attention to address this pressing matter.

In his address during the First Annual Congregation (Dua) 2026 at Duadaso No.1 in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region, Alhaji Yakubu Musah Barry highlighted that one of the most distressing challenges confronting the Zongo and Muslim communities is the rise in drug abuse and Drug trafficking.

He emphasized that this issue is detrimental to the youth, fracturing families, and jeopardizing the future of young individuals.

Characterizing this situation as a moral, social, and spiritual crisis, he called upon religious, traditional, and political leaders to meet this challenge by intensifying strong moral Islamic education, youth empowerment and skill training, counseling and rehabilitation programs, and establishing firm collaboration with law enforcement agencies.

He stressed the importance of parents taking full responsibility at home to steer the youth away from detrimental paths in life.

Alhaji Osman Agyade, a member of the Upper East Regional National Council of Fulani Chiefs, has stated that cattle rearing in Ghana is not exclusively conducted by Fulani herdsmen, but also by the indigenous population.

Therefore, he urged that the tendency to blame the Fulanis whenever cattle cause damage to properties should be minimized.

He advised against the shooting and killing of cattle in response to farm destruction and encouraged affected farmers to seek redress through the appropriate authorities to prevent conflicts between the Fulanis and the indigenous people.
