Afrancho Market Traders Cry Foul Darkness And Insecurity Reign.

Traders at Afrancho market in Afigya Kwabre South, Ashanti Region, are living in fear and frustration due to the lack of lighting and security in the market.
The market, which should be a hub of economic activity, turns into a dark and foreboding place in the evenings, putting the traders’ safety at risk.
Speaking on behalf of the traders, Maa Akosua, the market queen mother, revealed that the situation has been dire for a while now. “We don’t have security to protect us or our goods, and the lack of light makes us vulnerable to attacks and theft,” she said.
The traders are also without access to water, after the previous DCE’s donated water pipe broke down.
The situation is further exacerbated by traders selling their foodstuffs alongside the road, creating congestion and chaos. Maa Akosua is appealing to DCE Hon Patricia Pearl Ankrah to intervene and relocate the traders to a safer space within the market.
“We need lighting, security, and water to operate effectively,” she pleaded.
The traders are counting on the authorities to hear their cries and bring relief to their struggling market.
