Boko Haram Faction Releases Video Of 416 Abducted Ngoshe Victims

A faction of Boko Haram has released a video showing 416 abducted residents from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The victims, mostly women and children, were seen in the footage speaking about their condition, with the insurgents claiming they are “safe” and being treated well.
The group behind the video identified itself as Jama’atu Ahlis-Sunna Lidda’Awati Wal-Jihad (JAS), a faction of Boko Haram, and said the recording was made following requests from mediators seeking proof of life.
One of the victims, speaking in the video, confirmed they were abducted during the earlier attack on Ngoshe and appealed to the government for urgent intervention to secure their release.
The abduction traces back to a large-scale attack in March 2026, when insurgents stormed Ngoshe and reportedly kidnapped over 300 residents, escalating insecurity in the region.
Meanwhile, a local group, the Borno South Youths Alliance (BOSYA), has been engaging in mediation efforts and called on the Nigerian government and international partners to intensify actions toward rescuing the victims.
The development highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Nigeria’s North-East, where insurgent groups continue to carry out mass abductions despite military operations in the region.
End.
