Three Dead, In Fatal Crash At Akoti Focus Junction During Heavy Downpour.

Three people have died on the spot in a fatal accident between Gomoa Akoti Focus Junction and Buduatta Junction on the Winneba-Kasoa Highway in the Central Region.

The accident involved three vehicles: a private car with registration number DV 9546, a fuel tanker with registration number GN 4328-15, and a tipper truck with registration number GT 9026-26.

According to reports, the private car was traveling from Winneba towards Kasoa when, upon reaching the section of the road, a pickup vehicle attempted a wrongful overtaking maneuver.

The action reportedly caused the driver of the private car to lose control and collide head-on with the fuel tanker, which was coming from the opposite direction.

Eyewitnesses said the driver of the tanker applied an emergency brake, but the tipper truck, which was following closely behind, crashed into the tanker from the rear.

Speaking in an interview with the media eyewitnesses revealed that the driver of the private car and a female passenger with their baby died instantly.

The driver of the private car was reportedly trapped in the wreckage and died on the spot.

Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup vehicle that allegedly caused the accident is said to have fled the scene immediately after the crash.

Police officers are currently at the scene managing traffic and investigating the incident.
