Devastating Flood Engulfs Ghana Commercial Bank In Saltpond, Residents Stranded And Homeless.

A severe flood has wreaked havoc in Saltpond, Mfantseman Municipality, leaving residents, bank workers, and individuals in the vicinity stranded and in urgent need of assistance.

The Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) branch at Saltpond was completely submerged, exacerbating the crisis for those caught in the deluge.

In an interview with Douglas Oyiboh Amponsah, the Odikro of Saltpond in the traditional area Nana Gyan Ankwada VII, the Odikro of Saltpond, attributed the devastating flood to a severe lack of proper drainage and choked gutters.

He shared his personal distress, having gone to the GCB bank to withdraw money only to find the entire area inundated by the floodwaters, leaving many people frustrated and helpless.

The situation is dire for many residents, who report that numerous personal items and properties have been swept away by the raging waters.

With their homes destroyed and possessions lost, families are now facing the grim reality of having nowhere to sleep tonight.

A desperate plea has been issued for immediate aid from NADMO (National Disaster Management Organization) to rescue those trapped and provide essential relief to the affected community.

The community is calling for urgent intervention to address the immediate needs of those who have lost everything.

For over 15 to 20 years now flood take place, the Mfantseman Municipality has been plagued by severe flooding, impacting hundreds of homes.

In response to the latest deluge, NADMO Director Hon. Abeiku Nyankson is leading rescue efforts and assessing damaged properties in affected areas.

The recurring floodwaters have inundated communities including Saltpond, Krankyekrom, Awoyaa, Ankaful, Zongo, prabew and parts of Mankessim. Hon. Nyankson assured residents that NADMO is committed to protecting lives and properties throughout the rainy season.
