Engineer Karlim Abdual stated that the haphazard placement of billboards along roadsides has become a major contributing factor to road accidents, posing a particular danger to schoolchildren crossing the road .

The Assembly is now requiring all owners of billboards to secure proper permits and obtain designated locations from the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly. Engineer Abdual warned that any individual or entity failing to comply with these new regulations will face legal repercussions .

This initiative is part of the Assembly’s broader commitment to ensuring public safety and order within the municipality .

This enforcement drive by the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly is consistent with ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure and safety.

Past initiatives have included retraining drivers on road safety and customer service . Road infrastructure has been identified as a persistent challenge in the Assembly’s composite budgets .

The crackdown also targets unauthorized construction. During an inspection in Baifikro, owners of structures lacking proper permits were ordered to cease all work immediately and report to the Assembly for necessary documentation. Engineer Abdual expressed serious concerns about the potential for these unpermitted buildings to collapse, leading to damage and loss of life .
