WORKERS/ LABOUR UINION IN NKWANTA SOUTH GIVES GOVERNMENT ULTIMATUM TO END CONFLICT OR LAY DOWN THEIR TOOLS.

The workers labour union in Nkwanta consist of government workers, self employed, transport operators, farmers, market women and business owners* has petitioned all the relevant authorities to act fast immediately to end the conflict in Nkwanta.

According to them, the conflict has affected everything in the municipality making life unbearable hence the need for lasting solution once and for all.

In a press conference, one of the conveners for Nkwanta concerned workers movement, Mr. Edward Yeboah said, they are giving government 30 days to end the conflict or they will lay down their tools.

According to him, their petition is expected to reach the president of the land, Interior minister, Local government and chieftaincy minister, the Oti regional minister, the MP for the area and the MCE.

On his part, Mr. Kofi Amoako, one of the conveners said, the curfew is not serving its intended purpose hence the need to lift it or review it upwards.

He argue that, even though the government imposes curfew on Nkwanta since the break out of the conflict some four years ago, killings are ongoing at broad day and not in the night.

In one accord with the entirety of residents, he is therefore calling on the government to review the curfew with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, receiving the petition, the municipal chief executive, Hon. Joseph Awal Antwi* thanked the conveners for their effort to bring lasting solution to the unfortunate conflict in Nkwanta.

He therefore promised them of forwarding their petition to all the relevant authorities mentioned.

He however emphasized the government’s effort in working around the clock to bring lasting solution to the conflict.
