Body Of Unidentified Man Found Floating In Owabi River At Kronum “New York” Sparks Fear In Suame.

Residents of Kronum “New York” in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti Region were thrown into fear and confusion this morning after the body of a middle-aged man was found floating in the Owabi River.

The discovery, made around 9am this morning by some residents heading to work, marks the first time such an incident has occurred in the area.

Residents say the body was lying face down in the river near the banks.

Attempts by some residents to identify him proved futile as he is not known in the community.

“We don’t know this man. He doesn’t live around here.

When we saw the body this morning everyone became scared,” a resident told Sompa News.

Another resident added: “This is the first time something like this is happening in our area.

We are all living in fear now. We don’t know what happened to him.”

Personnel from the Suame District Police Command arrived at the scene shortly after they were alerted.

The body has since been conveyed to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Police say investigations are underway to establish the identity of the deceased and the cause of death.

They are also appealing to anyone with information about a missing person to come forward.
