Timber Market Roars With Joy MP Delivers On Bed Road Promise In Ekumfi.

A wave of elation has swept through the Mfantseman West Ekumfi timber market as the long-awaited construction of their primary access road has finally commenced.
The timber market association, alongside local residents, drivers, and businesses, is expressing profound gratitude to Member of Parliament Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoo and the Ekumfi District Assembly for heeding their persistent calls.
This crucial infrastructure project, a collaboration with Danquasco Construction Limited, marks a turning point after years of battling challenging road conditions.
For the timber traders and the wider community, the state of the road has been a constant source of hardship.
Chairman of the timber market association, Mr. Francis Aidoo, recounted the arduous journey of advocating for this vital link. “We have been battling for this road network since 2023,” they stated, underscoring the duration of their campaign.
The recent, severe downpours had further exacerbated the situation, rendering the road virtually impassable and severely disrupting business activities for all stakeholders.
“The recent downfall of rain had dismantled everything, making it incredibly difficult for residents, workers, drivers, and us in the timber market association to use the road for our business or activities,” Mr. Aidoo explained.
The commencement of construction has been met with overwhelming appreciation for MP Kwainoo’s dedication.
The association highlighted his instrumental role in supporting this project, stating their immense gratitude for his intervention.
While the initial vision for the road was to connect Obiden to Mankessim Nananom Junction, the immediate priority has shifted to the market area itself, which has suffered the most significant damage.
This focused approach ensures that the economic heart of the community will be revitalized first.
The association extended their heartfelt thanks to the MP and the assembly for their responsiveness and commitment to addressing this critical need.
The improved road network is expected to significantly boost economic activity in the Ekumfi Constituency.
For the timber market, efficient transportation is paramount, and the new road will facilitate easier movement of goods, reduce operational costs for traders, and potentially attract more business to the area.
This project stands as a testament to the power of community advocacy and the impact of dedicated leadership in driving local development.
The timber market association in the Mfantseman municipality is expressing their dissatisfaction with the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly due to the lack of road construction despite their tax contributions.
Mr. Kalala Mohammed, the association’s organizer, stated that the assembly has benefited from taxes collected from the timber market since its establishment.
However, the assembly has not invested in their well-being by building roads, forcing the members to use poor road conditions.
Mr. Mohammed further explained that the association has appealed to the Ekumfi MP for help.
He noted that while the area is traditionally part of Ekumfi, it falls under the Mfantseman municipality for political purposes.
Despite years of voting for Mfantseman, they have not seen any development, with the assembly solely focused on tax collection.
Consequently, they are applauding Dr. Ekow Kwainoo for his support.
The contractor at the site, Mr. Alex Dankwa of Dankwasco Construction Limited, clarified that he is not the primary contractor for the road project.
However, as he is working on nearby quarry sites, he feels it is his responsibility to contribute to the road’s construction.
He has engaged in discussions with MP Dr. Kwainoo and the timber market association regarding this matter.
