Abrepo Junction To Adoato Road turns Death Trap As Manholes Cause Accidents, Property Damage

The poor state of roads in the Ashanti Region is being blamed for the rising number of road accidents, with the Abrepo Junction to Adoato stretch in the Bantama Sub-Metro cited as one of the most dangerous.

Residents say the entire stretch has deteriorated, with deep potholes and manholes making driving hazardous and putting lives at risk daily.

According to them, accidents on the road have become frequent. Just last week, a heavy-duty truck hit a manhole and veered off to crash into the wall of a house at Abrepo Junction.

They noted that the Abrepo Junction to Adoato road is a major artery linking several communities, yet its current condition continues to claim lives and destroy property.

Businesses along the stretch are also suffering.

Traders say customers are avoiding the area out of fear, leading to low sales and collapsing livelihoods.

The residents are therefore appealing to their Member of Parliament, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, to intervene urgently and ensure the manholes and potholes are fixed.

They say the bad road has increased vehicle breakdowns, forcing them to visit Suame Magazine almost weekly for repairs.

The drivers say they are incurring huge costs and losing income, and are calling on authorities to come to their aid.

Both residents and drivers are urging the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, and the Bantama Sub-Metro to, as a matter of urgency, rehabilitate the Abrepo Junction to Adoato road to prevent further accidents and protect livelihoods.
